Off The Rails

Off The Rails pride themselves on being one of the most unique places to eat and drink on the Isle of Wight; set along the old railway line in Yarmouth’s former train station, the restaurant overlooks the outstanding natural beauty of the Yarmouth Marshes. Being located along the Causeway next to us at Wight Cycle Hire, it makes the perfect pitstop for walkers, cyclists and those visiting the Island as the restaurant is just a 5 minute stroll from the ferry terminal. 

They openly welcome dogs in their restaurant and offer an extensive dog menu.

Their talented chefs have dedicated their time to create a menu for all dietary requirements, they have something for everyone. They have won several good food guide awards since opening in 2014, restoration project awards and hospitality awards, making their restaurant one of the go to places when visiting the Isle of Wight.

Chessell Pottery Cafe

Nestled just off the famous “Tennyson Trail” in the heart of the West Wight, Chessell Pottery Cafe is famous for its welcoming hospitality. Delicious homemade cakes and barista coffees await you after your exertions enjoying the local scenery. If you’ve really worked hard you may be tempted by a breakfast or freshly prepared light lunch! There is plenty of seating inside or outside in our pretty courtyard garden, and also convenient bike racks. The Blue Crab

Come and join fantastic freshly battered take away fish and chips at The Blue Crab. They make their own chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce and cook everything to order. If you are gluten intolerant, not a problem just ask for gluten free batter, they also have other gluten free meals available. For the smaller appetite they have a range of kids meal and even serve Yarmouth crab sandwiches at lunchtime. They stock a range of soft drinks and alcoholic drinks to quench your thirst after your long bike rides. Dimbola Tea Room

The Dimbola Tea Room is situated in beautiful Freshwater Bay, at the historic home of the Victorian pioneer photographer Julia Margaret Cameron. As well as the William Morris themed tea room, we have a spacious south facing outdoor terrace with great views over the downs and toward Freshwater Bay. We have cycle racks, outdoor power points for a quick charge if you’re electric and offer a fantastic menu of light lunches, gorgeous homemade cakes, hot and cold drinks and ice creams. 

We are very keen to promote cycling and support cyclists – and we can offer you  a 10% discount if you arrive on a bike. 

Directions:  Head for Terrace Lane (off Gate Lane), which is 200 yards from Freshwater Bay on the road to Alum Bay. Look out for the Jimi Hendrix statue.
