The Objective

A fun and challenging way to see some of the best bits of the Isle of Wight!

Each card in the set has a colour, location indicated by a number and a monetary value. The cards locations is shown with the number and card colour on the map which you have been provided with. The simple objective is to answer the question on each card - which can only be obtained from visiting each location and finding the answer. Watch out as some cards may require two people to get the answer, see the rules below! The answer should be written on the rear of the card and kept safe until you return to base, or pass it on to another team member. If the card with your answer does not make it back to base within the time limit set it will not count. At the end of the challenge the value of all the collected correct cards will be added together for each team, the winning team will be the one that accrues the highest amount of money.

The pre challenge strategy is to plan how you will cycle to the various locations and obtain the answers and hence obtain the monetary value on each card. The plan is further complicated by the sets of colours. If you collect a full set (with the correct answer of course) the monetary value of the card set is doubled, so it’s important that you plan to collect sets, these can be collected by any team member, an individual does not have to collect a whole set.

So, for example if your team collect both cards in the Dark Blue set the value is £350 + £400 = £750.

Plus the set bonus of £750 = £1500 to the team total. If for whatever reason one card doesn’t make it back in time or has the wrong answer the set bonus will be lost plus the value of the card.

To add even more complication you will be having a lunch break half way through the challenge. ALL team members will have to be at the designated lunch point before the deadline lunch time. For each part of a minute that a team member is late a deduction of £10 will be made. So, if two team members are late, one by 10 minutes and one by 5 - £150 will be deducted from the team total.

The location for the lunch break will not be announced until just prior to the challenge beginning!

Rules

1. Ride safely and with consideration for your own safety for other road and track users.

2. You can’t ride on piers, footpaths, only roads, bridleways and byways.

3. You can’t leave your bike, if a situation requires this to get the answer you will need to take additional team members to hold the bikes while you may go off on foot. Identify those cards which require more than one person! (Rule 2 above will be the only cause of this).

4. You can’t use the three main West to East Roads to obtain your answers, this helps with road safety and that you will see the better bits of the Island. (A3055, B3399 & A3054).

5. Anybody caught cheating will be disqualified.
